The operation of the NEPA Trauma Center requires an ongoing commitment from the region for several key reasons:
- The Trauma Center treats patients regardless of their economic status, placing an enormous financial burden on the facility.
- Trauma/Emergency services' recent redesign and expansion was necessary and very costly. The new wing is ergonomically designed to provide close proximity for the Trauma Team and Emergency physicians and staff.
- Because it is a Level II Trauma Center, the NEPA Trauma Center is staffed 24-hours-a-day, every day of the year, by double-board certified trauma surgeons and a cadre of specially trained support professionals. These staffing requirements are above and beyond those applied to emergency rooms.
- Utilizing advance technology to provide for the best possible care to our patients is vital and very expensive.
The generosity and support of individuals, physicians, corporations and foundations is a vital component in the sustainability of the Trauma Center. Each one, regardless of size, makes a difference. This financial investment not only supports critical care services, but also strengthens the bond of mutual reliance between the Center and the seven counties it serves.
With continued support from the region, together we can ensure that the delivery of critical care to our residents with life-threatening injuries is here when needed.
There are a variety of ways friends of the Trauma Center can participate.
